MKAL's & meet-ups

Sunday, October 23, 2016           by The Purl Box

One of us is struggling a little in the post Tongan Holiday weather that Victoria is currently throwing at us.  So when Anita saw the notice go up for the next Woolly Wormhead Mystery Hat-a-long was going to be featuring the lush & lovely Fyberspates Vivacious DK, she thought it sounded like the best idea out.  Hats make you warm.

And given that I remember seeing more blue sky & much less rain in Scotland & Shetland than I have in the last two weeks back here, I'm also pretty down with the idea of joining the MKAL.

So, as we're both in, we'd love you to come & hat-a-long with us in our Ravelry Group Page.  This year Woolly Wormhead is offering a choice of hat styles - beret, beanie & slouchy style, so you can choose which shape you like the best.  Or all three.

And while a knitted hat isn't quite standard Spring Carnival wear, Cast-on day also happens to be Melbourne Cup day - November 1st, so making something for your head at this time still seems fitting somehow.

You can find the MKAL sign-ups on Woolly Wormhead's webpage here, or through Rav, here.

We've topped up our stocks of Fyberspates Vivacious DK for this, so there's plenty of colours that you can choose from.  Bright or subtle, you know it'll be a fab knit coming from the Hat Architect that is Woolly Wormhead.

Some of what's now in the store.

To add to the knit-a-long fun, we'll be back at the Woodend Wine Store with our knitting again on Saturday 5th November, between 4 & 6 pm.  Which is after the first clue is released & before the second.

Please feel free to come along & join us - you can ask for more info or let us know if you'd like to come via our Rav page, or via our Contact Us page here  ... or just turn up  & pretend you're looking for wine until you've scoped us out ; ) We don't mind.

The address is:    42 Anslow St, Woodend.   There's on street parking available,  or, alternatively, it's also a very short walk from the train station - which is how I'll be travelling ... because it is a wine store after all ; )

We'll have our hats along with us .... and also some Vivacious DK so you if you haven't yet decided on a colour, you can have a squish there & see.  If there is any other yarns you'd also like to have a look at with your hands, drop us a message & we'll bring it along.

Now we've signed up, the hardest thing is to choose a colour.  Both Anita & I have narrowed it down to two colours apiece.  She's tossing up between Tweed Imps & Deep Aqua.... choices that are numbers 3 & 4 in this image

Here's my choices:

Sea Greens for some seriously happy & bright Spring colour & Crocus, well, because its just really, really pretty.

Which probably means I'm making two hats.

Happy Knitting,

Kylie  xx
