Woolgathering 2018

Saturday, April 28, 2018           by The Purl Box

As you may be aware, next weekend is a very special one in our The Purl Box calendar - a fantastic homage to Wool event organised by a good, dear friend of ours, Karen Pior.  Otherwise known as Woolgathering Australia.  And its taking place at a gorgeous, glorious farm homestead known as Tarndie.  Who you may also know, does a very squishable line in Polwarth sheep & yarns.

If you are also lucky enough (or quick enough) to score a spot at Woolgathering, both Anita & I will be there for the whole weekend as well.  Do come up & say Hi - we'd love to meet you & have a chat.  One of the best things bout this event is getting to talk to a whole bunch of wool enthusiasts in your own craft dialect.  Its such a fabulous way to share the love & inspire you with new ways of exploring your crafty passions.

If you are anything like the both of us, you are also probably spending more time on wondering what projects to bring along with you rather than what clothes to pack.  I've been busily knitting away at my pre-class homework swatching & also my Timely cardigan, as I need to get past the raglan shaping & into the body so I can just knit away without too much counting.  Experience at these events & our Winestore meet-ups means I know for me, simple is best when it comes to talking & knitting.  Anita, brave knitting soul that she is, will probably bring lace!!!

If you didn't manage to score a berth this year & are feeling all the FOMO feels, then do remember that on the Saturday Afternoon there will be a Marketplace that is open to the Public, not just the attendees.  It will be held in the newly refurbished Ciderhouse at Tarndie between 2.30 & 4.30 pm.

The address is:  Tarndie (Tarndwarncoort)

37 Roseneath Rd, Warncoort -  its near Colac, about 1 1/2hrs from Melbourne

You can find all the important details about it here  and also on Karen's Woolgathering Australia Ravelry Group page

It's worth the journey alone for one of Tom's Hot Chocolates, never mind playing with all the wares from the fantastic vendors Karen has organised.  (admitting to bias here as that includes us)

We have a table at the marketplace, so pop in & check us out!  We'll have a goodly portion of our Oyster Yarns with us, plus some of our other brands too.

As such, on a practical note, because we'll have a significant portion of the shop inventory with us at Tarndie, you'll find it missing from the online shop next weekend.  Once the weekend is over & the post Marketplace stocktake is done, then we'll put back what remains.

(A little bit of the Eden's Blend that will be coming along with us....

So if there's anything you were keen to get, and can't make it to the Marketplace next weekend, head across to the shop now & make sure you don't miss out.... the Woolgathering event starts on Thursday.

Happy Knitting!

Kylie
